Got FIsh?

I wrote the first part of this entry a few days ago:

We went to Petco on Thursday... (that's where the Pets Go, if you didn't already know that...(okay, let's all go booooo!))... We picked up 2 Blue Ram cichlids and 2 corydoras...right now the corys are small and the Blue Rams have not bloomed into their full color... here is a link to the picture of the type of fish we got:

When we got home with the fish, one of my boys tested the water with our test kit & determined that next time we do a water change, we'll need to use some neutral regulator. With the biological filtration, our water is fine... our tap water's PH is a bit high (alkaline, I think)... my other son informed me of the following:

"The acid-alkalinity levels are fine, but the PH is a little high"... we had a talk about this afterward! AS they say, "out of the mouths"...

Written today:

We did have a problem with Ick with one of the fish & lost it yesterday...we noticed the ick on Friday or Saturday & treated the tank on Saturday & Sunday... ended up losing that one fish, so we'll have to call PetCo to find out if we can exchange it for another... problem is we're not sure which one is male & which is female. Evan thought we had gotten 2 males, but who knows! We put the fish in a ziplock bag & put it in the freezer... hopefully I will be able to find the PetCo receipt.

They finally fixed things so I can post!

I have not been able to get in to post because our webhost had upgraded the PHP/MySql software and it screwed a few things up...

Guess I oughtta share a couple of pictures... I've been experimenting with different markers (prismacolor-they bleed through paper), Copic sketch markers (also heavy bleeders, but I LOVE their paint tip)... Faber Pitt paint pens, nice, guess I'll get more of these...also Pentel paint pens, which are nice, but color selection is limited... and a couple of others... I'm not fond of the Zig markers...but will play with them some more, maybe I'll change my mind...

I did some abstracts with them in my moleskine book, mandala style but not quite mandalas, but not quite not.. have been needing to do a bit of art therapy lately...

This one was more for experimenting with the pitt markers & the eggplant color is the Copic sketch marker which I like for its paint nib, but it's a heavy bleeder, even bleeds through the heavy moleskine sketch paper:

May post the others later, haven't decided yet...

My Secret Sister/Santa sent her package and it arrived on Saturday... I wasn't able to pick it up until Monday & once I did, I was able to guess who was my SS and we agreed it was okay to open the package... it contained some cool items:

Here is a closeup of the Sock yarn, which Jenny hand dyed:

I can't wait until I can knit with the yarn that Jenny sent... will probably cast on a pair of toe up socks when I'm done with my SS project (unless I decide to use the yarn for something else, perhaps a lace project... can't talk about the SS project yet! Here is a photo of the yarn:

Here is the split ply braided bracelet she made:

(I'll replace the pictures when I get getter ones taken!)

And a closeup of the Snake bookmark:

We tried the Twiglets today and not everyone liked them... they're a bit odd, but they grow on me... haven't tried the Bombay mix (maybe for New Year's eve?) chocolate yet (will save that for a special occasion for just me & Gary)

I can't talk about my yarn projects as they are for my secret sister...

Time for bed!
