What I've been up to

A couple of weeks ago, I did an apple based on the tutorial that I found here Click on demonstrations for the first demo...

It was fun... I used CarbOthello pastel pencils (instead of the Faber-Pitt that the demo used)... will try some more!

This is NOT the Everyday Matters apple challenge... I'll do that from real apples... :)

Also did an ink drawing of Opus while he was sleeping & Harrison was also asleep next to him:

After I did that one, I did another in my large watercolor Moleskine book with some washes... the first wash, red only, looked awful... then earlier today I added a bit more color which helps:

And last but not least, I'm doing an online watercolor workshop with Zan, which I found out about through this yahoogroups email list Here's a photo of my first week painting:

This was definitely a study in values and texture... we were limited to 4 colors for our palette: I chose french ultramarine, burnt umber, raw umber & burnt sienna...I used a bit of salt on the lower section of the painting...

While I had the painting standing up along the wall on the couch, one of the cats went over to lick it...luckily I got it away in time!!

Next week's image is supposed to be more monochromatic...rusty colors... lights & darks... will try to avoid the scrub-brushing I did with this painting!

Here's a picture of Nikki sitting pretty on top of the computer monitor:

She was NOT the guilty party!
