I haven't been keeping up with this blog & I had considered deleting it, but I decided not to. This blog is not necessarily about what happens day in and day out, but occasionally I come up with ideas for things to write about...
Unfortunately I get some of my best ideas when I'm nowhere near the computer, like in the car or supermarket or whenever I'm doing something that kicks the right side of my brain into gear.
The other day I was thinking about the whole concept of Favorite Colors...and was feeling bugged by it. When my oldest 2 were in Kindergarten in public school, their teachers made them pick favorite colors.. Evan's was "the whole rainbow" (just like me!) but they would not allow it, he had to pick ONE color, which then became a part of him & defined him, which doesn't really allow for changes.
I think the emphasis on having to choose a favorite color leads to a closed minded focus on life rather than accepting that people can change & such...
I can not pick one color that I prefer for an all time favorite color, it changes all the time... and I LOVE variegated colors... one of my recent knitting projects is a pair of socks in a variegated yarn: green purple & yellow...
So much for color...
Letterboxing, a new discovery!
A couple of days ago I was reading some of my favorite blogs & found out about letterboxing. I had heard the term before, but yesterday I decided to look into it more closely.. if I'm understanding it correctly, in a nutshell, it is a treasure hunt where you follow clues to a letterbox (a (hopefully) weathertight container with a logbook & rubberstamp & info) and you take along your own journal to make a stamp impression & your own rubber stamp to leave your impression & then you re-hide the box... you can find more information about it here or here
I ordered some stamping stuff which hopefully will arrive during the week. It may be a great way to find new things for us to do as a family.
Happy Rainbows!
