Two Old Bags is a partnership of two women-Ann Swanson and Katie Nagorney. They write and produce patterns for handknitting. They write patterns that are easy to understand and are written with the advanced beginner in mind. The instructions are complete and include technical diagrams and graphs when appropriate.

They have written many patterns for felting (knit then felt) and they have others (including lace) that are not not felted.

Mister Ben MISTER BEN is a knitted "copy" of the famous sock monkey dolls many of us grew up with. If you have knit a pair of socks you can make a sock monkey. You can use any weight for this pattern. The size of the monkey you knit will be determined by the type of yarn and needles you choose. The Big Shrug The Big Shrug has a cuff and easy & fun lace pattern. There are instructions for a smaller version without cuffs. This is an easy first lace pattern with minimal shaping and blocking. Knit/Purl Bag The KNIT/PURL BAG is a large knitted bag with a stranded design. Dowels are inserted in the knitted in casing at the top to give your bag structure. You can also use purchased leather handles (resource information included in pattern) or you can knit your own strap. Use a light worsted weight yarn for this pattern (5sts/in). Setesdal Stole The SETESDAL STOLE is a rectangular shawl that is knit the long way. You can either follow a chart or the row-by-row directions. A lace edging is applied after the basic rectangle is complete. This shawl was inspired by the setesdal stranded knitting designs often seen in ski sweaters. Lace weight yarn is recommended.
