still thinking about colors

Well, I've decided not to do Rogue with the oatmeal yarn... I remembered that I have 2 other colors of this cone yarn: green (which is nice, but too thin, so that's ruled out) and teal (which is the same weight as the oatmeal and purple... as soon as I finish the teal swatch, I'll make up my mind whether to go with the purple or teal... I think I'm leaning more towards the teal than the purple, they're both equally dark, but I think the cables will show up nicer with the teal...

Other than that, no progress on the rug: I had done a little bit on it, wasn't happy with it and pulled that section out, no big deal, hopefully I'll get to work on it today but I think today I'll be too busy keeping on top of the twins to make sure they work on their solar system projects...they each have a bit more to do on paper mache and Micah is doing the smaller planets by needle felting..you don't have to deal with drying time with needle felting!

The projects are due on Tuesday.

Also I'm going to be making some Hamentashen: it's our turn to bring snacks this week for Harrison's kindergarten class, so I'll make Hamentashen for one day, cheese puffs for another, oatmeal cookies or something like that for another day and store bought cookies for the other day or two...

Hopefully with those things to do, I'll still be able to do some knitting and rug hooking.

Maybe i'll have pictures later this week!

we had some high winds blow through here a couple of days ago... for about 10 or 15 minutes we had some heavy pouring rain and wind and it blew a part of the gutter down...what a mess! I had put Harrison's backpack out on the porch because he left it sitting on top of some of the paste the boys made for their paper mache projects.. I was hoping the backpack would get rained on to clean it and when the gutter fell, a lot of stuff that should have been swept out was all over the porch and got into his backpack too! SO I had to rinse the backpack out again, but it's dry now and he'll be able to use it again tomorrow...

almost done!

Family Hands is almost done:

For some reason, the red didn't want to photograph well, it's really a fair bit darker...and for the blue hand with the light blue outline, I'm still not sure if I want to keep it with the light blue outline or take that out and do the darker (royal) blue solid... I put in the light blue to give some contrast to the green hand...the lime green at the tips of the fingers are where my hand overlaps with Micah's hand.

I've been trying to decide what to do for my next rug and still can't quite decide, but may do something with the cats or the kids or may do another hands composition... I've been drawing a bit and looking at some pictures and sketchbooks and eventually I'll come up with SOMEthing...

Rogue

I'm stalled on Rogue for now: I've been having trouble talking myself into casting on for the project: part of it is I don't really like casting on (even though it's less than 200 stitches: I had originally thought I would have to do the largest size, but I don't... the other part is I can't decide if I should do the purple or oatmeal..

I think the purple might be a little tough to work with because it's dark (darker than the photo on my blog, more like an eggplant purple) and may not show the cables as well, but I think it would be so pretty...I keep telling myself that I COULD do another sweater with the purple another time, but that's not convncing me... I'll mull over it a while and eventually I'll just cast on something... or maybe I'll pick up a UFO and finish something... I have a vest in progress from YEARS ago: Medrith Glover's Aran A Bite at a Time Vest in a 100% wool worsted weight rust red that I bought in Sunray yarns in New York City... after I finish the back, there would be some work to do on the upper part of the chest and general finishing up...

Gary did a bit of fixing to the side bar of the blog: the Movable Type credit was missing as were the archive links and titles (not that I've been coming up with any good titles!) and a couple of other links.

I leave you with a photo of one of the Cratts (hard to tell if it's Loveslug (Chris) or Littleface (Martin) in this photo, but I THINK it's Loveslug. One of the boys took the picture:

Time for Gilmore Girls!
