The end is near!

for the cashmere Aran Afghan square...I have one more pattern row to do, then the decrease row, then the garter stitch ridges, cast off, wash/block & VOILA! After I'm done with this, I'll do a swatch for a variation of the SpinCraft aran cardigan with saddle shoulder using some of the cables from the Patons' Street Smart "Must Have" cardigan... the yarn I'll use will be worsted weight Donegal tweed that I got from the Samuel Lumb mill, which no longer exists... oatmeal will probably be the color since it shows the cables quite nicely...

Harrison's socks are almost done...the heel and gusset rounds are done and now I'm working my way down the feet. I still have not decided whether or not to do 2 piggy toes (the pinky and big toe)... the advantage of not having to wear a sock on the same foot is the wear is more evenly distributed...however, I'm using Patons Kroy sock yarn and it wears like iron, so it might be okay to do this with this yarn...

Also, the fabric (knit on US 4s) is fairly tight, so that's another advantage..we'll see how I feel about the piggy toes when it's time to do toes!

When I'm done with this pair of socks, I'll start on Evan or Micah's Stahl Big socks...the yarn colors are beautiful..

Weight loss update: 34 lbs so far

After plateauing BIG time on the weight watchers program, I decided to try Atkins... I've been on it 2 weeks. I don't know how much i've lost since I started low-carb eating, but I've been keeping track of my measurements and am showing a loss of about 2 inches... that is good news. I didn't get to weigh in until 1 week into the program and was 7 lbs less than my last weight check from sometime over the holidays, and did another weight check yesterday and showed no loss... I'm at my water retentive time of the month, so I rarely lose much, if anything, at this point...we'll see what happens next week and the week after...

Overall, I feel good... no energy issues, which is great.

Also I have a copy of Color in Spinning on Ebay...

Also I've added some more yarns to the Tornadowood website. Also, I can get Patons Canadiana and Patons Decor, but I dread coding that page because of all the colors...so if you want a bag of Canadiana or Decor, email me and we'll take it from there!

Gonna go and do an upper body workout! Maybe I'll post photos next time I write. Have a wonderful day, everyone!

What's New & Old?

Well, Gary was setting up another program and accidentally deleted some files that were necessary to put in new blog entries and such, so we put this one in a new directory (blog) and the old one is still intact... Gary managed to keep my archives, so everything is pretty much all here and the only difference is tne name... and I took the tag-board out. I figure since Movable Type has commenting, why keep the tag-board here. I will probably use it on the Weaving Rainbow main site.

Now that this is all fixed, maybe I'll post more often. I'm glad to be posting again, for sure!

Kroy Jacquard double stranded socks

Since my last entry, I've been working on worsted weight socks using 2 strands of Kroy Country jacquard yarn, and they're lining up quite nicely. The section that is supposed to do the fair isle patterning came out more like a marl patterning & that is okay as long as the stripes are lining up, and they are:

I'm further along than these photos show: both heels are turned and all the gusset decreases for one sock are done and are almost done on the other. I should have these socks done within the week and ready for Harrison to wear. He wants his socks to have a couple of individual toes: I have not decided yet whether or not i will oblige...

Aran Afghan Square

Also, I'm almost done with the Aran afghan square for Hunt Valley cashmere. 1-1/2 repeats to go & 3 ridges of garter stitch, cast off, wash/block/photograph and send!
